Perfect Performance
Well done to the whole of MP2. Today all of the children gave the best performance they have ever done. The audience was fantastic and it was great to see them get so involved. I saw so many happy mums and dads in the audience that it made me proud to be one of the teachers of such a wonderful and talented group of children. Have a great holiday everybody and I wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Water Resistance
The only place suitable to test and learn about water resistance is of course the swimming pool! Year 4 used the knowledge of their recent air resistance investigation to inform their predictions about which shapes would easily move through water. Taking careful measurements was the key, although recording results in a wet environment is challenging for anyone!

Poetry - Creating Images
Last week we read some very tricky poems and thought about how we could show what images they created in our minds. We worked together in groups to make up some actions to show these images and tried to perform the poems in an interesting way. Watch the videos we made below.

Explore the World Assembly
We have had a fantastic International Week! Here are some videos that show off our hard work as well as our talent!
Buddy Up & Help
To end the amazing international week that Year 4 have had, 4T and 4X spent time with our buddies in F2. The children were wonderful when helping each other. I was amazed to see how mature and caring Year 4 can be.
The Best Performance Ever!
Ms Alison and I were both so very proud of Year 4 today. After watching the whole show we both agreed and disagreed. We agreed that Year 4 were the best performers of the whole show, and we disagreed about the girls and boys. I thought that the boys were the best and she thought that the girls were the best. What did you think?

What can you find out about the world?
As it is International Week this week I have decided to make the tricky question a country question. Can you answer the following questions?
Which country in the world has the smallest population?
Which country in the world has the largest population?
Which country in the world has the largest land area?
Which country in the world has the smallest land area?

Earthquake Proof Buildings!
This week we have been learning about where earthquakes strike and what happens to buildings when they do. We know that buildings where earthquakes occur, need to be made in special shapes and from lightweight materials to make them safer to live in.

Devastating Magnitude
Last week I asked you to find any earthquake that has hit in the last 50 years. This week I wonder if you can find out where and when the largest earthquake hit. Try to answer the following questions;
- Where did the earthquake hit?
- What magnitude was the earthquake?
- How many people were killed due to the earthquake?
- How much was the estimated cost of clearing up after the earthquake?

MP2 Speech Competition
This week saw the MP2 speech contest and I can definitely say that I'm very proud of 4X. Manasi did a fantastic job and I was really impressed with all of the technical language that she used. Another big well done to Bach.
Sorry Manasi the battery on the camera ran out just after you started to talk, so your speech is not here.

Can you find different types of volcano?
Did you know there are three types of volcano? If you didn't, research using one of our favourite volcano sites and find out the difference. Once you understand the difference, can you locate each type of volcano on three different continents? When you have, post your answer in a comment below.

An Explosive Day in Year 4!
Wow, what a great day we have had today. We all followed the instructions carefully to make our own volcanoes explode! First we added two cups of water to our jug. Followed by 3 level scoops of bicarbonate of soda, a few drops of red food colouring and a squirt of washing up liquid. We mixed it all together and poured it into our volcanoes. After taking great care to carry our volcanoes downstairs, we took turns to add one cup of vinegar. This made a chemical reaction and it looked as if molten lava was pouring out of the main vent of our volcanoes! Now watch the exciting video of Bach and Chi Nhan's volcanoes exploding, and look at the slideshow of pictures from this morning.

This week, I will be giving 10 house points to the first person to answer The Tricky Question. So get busy doing some research, NOW!
Tell me who the best selling children's author of all time is.
This is a very tricky question and I would like to know where you got your information from, so please include a web page or other source.

The Reading Jedi!
Luckily for us, we were all sitting reading when the Jedi came in, but he delivered a very important message about the power of reading! Don't forget to read at home every night so that your House will get the clues you need to win lots of House points!

Picture a Setting!
This week in English, we have been working on story settings and considering how the setting of a story may affect what a character does or how they feel. In groups we chose a different setting and then acted it out for the rest of the class to guess our setting. We were careful not to say the name of the place we were in!
Ms Yen videoed two of our groups and I have used a special technique called Blu-Screening to put a back ground picture behind the actors.
Please watch our videos and see our first attempts at acting on a Blu-Screen!

The Earth - as made by 4X!
Last week we learnt all about the layers that make up the Earth, and then worked in pairs to recreate them using brightly coloured play dough. This week we are updating our own blogs to show what we did. Mr Mike has been teaching us how to upload photos and edit our posts before we publish them and make them public.
Please try to edit your blog at home and complete the instructions about how to make a play dough Earth. Perhaps you could add another picture using the ones found in the Picasa feed on Mr Mike's blog.
My personal target this week is to set up my own Picasa feed so that I don't need Mr Mike to put class 4X's photos onto his!

The first week back at school is always a very busy time for teachers. There are so many things to remember to do, things to do, resources to make. Be kind to your teachers and help them by reminding them about things they may have forgotten to do - especially me!
